NEW DELHI: The new Congress president will be known today. The counting of votes will start at 10 am. The ballot boxes are presently kept in the strong room of AICC. The votes from all PCCs will be mixed and counted.

There were a total of 9915 voters. Out of this 9497 people voted. No matter who wins, it will be two and a half decades later that someone from outside the Gandhi family is becoming president. It is after 22 years that the Congress is electing the president through elections.

294 people voted from Kerala
294 people from Kerala voted in the election. 287 people voted in two booths arranged in Indira Bhavan. 310 people had the right to vote in the state. Two people who are on Bharat Jodo Yatra and five who were on election duty in other states voted outside Kerala. The polling in Kerala was 94.83 %.

Three people in the list have died. Nine people did not vote due to health problems and two were abroad. Eldhose Kunnappillill who is on the run in the sexual abuse case, also did not come. Suresh Babu Elayavoor also could not vote due to a mistake in the voter card. Instead of Suresh Babu's name, another name was recorded.
