THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The second file settlement yajna introduced by the government to settle about two lakh pending files in the government offices did not achieve the goal. Only 33 per cent of the files were settled in the yajna conducted from June 15 to September 30. So, the government has issued an order extending the yajna till October 31. The Personnel & Administrative Reforms Department had decided to release the final report on the 15th.
However, the departments were not able to provide accurate figures in the review meeting. When the assembly met in August, the speed of the yajna slowed down as the staff were busy answering the questions of the ministers. In 2019, the first Pinarayi government conducted a three-month yajna, but only 68,000 files were settled. 1.98 lakh files are pending.
The pending files will be considered separately and not in the general section. If the files that can be settled quickly are pending, then the department heads have been instructed to specify the exact reasons and also should inform if any of the previous orders are obstructing this. The court-related files of department should be found quickly and brought to the attention of the Advocate General. 15 per cent of the pending files are service-related cases. The government has also directed to dispose of the files related to suspension, pension, death of employees etc. within the month of November and in the reports related to the assembly committee by appointing nodal officers.
