THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Minister MB Rajesh said that there should be no indifference against drug addiction that is eating away at the youth of Kerala. He was inaugurating an anti-drug awareness seminar jointly organized by Kerala Kaumudi Bodhapournami Club and Excise Department at Govt Model Girls Higher Secondary School, Pattom.
"Social progress will collapse if lethal drug addiction continues. The drug mafia has its eye on school and college students. They are making children the links of the drug sales chain regardless of whether they are male or female. The government will work to suppress the drug mafia with an iron fist so that Kerala does not become a ghost land. It has been decided to preemptively arrest around 2,000 people belonging to the drug mafia," the minister said.
Kerala Kaumudi deputy editor AC Regi presided over the function. School Principal Lailas, PTA President MS Ajith Kumar, Headmaster LR Shaji, Staff Secretary KL Binuraj, Kerala Kaumudi Deputy General Manager R Chandradutt and others participated in the function. Excise Department Psychologist Snehadaram Reeja Rajan conducted an anti-drug awareness class for the students.
Minister praises Kerala Kaumudi
Minister MB Rajesh said that Kerala Kaumudi is an inspiration for building a modern Kerala. "Kerala Kaumudi is the lamp and light for the social development of Kerala. Anti-drug awareness seminars are an example of Kaumudi's social commitment. Kerala Kaumudi has started Bodhapournami clubs in around 500 schools. Kerala Kaumudi started the anti-drug campaign even before the government started the fight against drug addiction," he said. The minister also praised Govt Model Girls Higher Secondary School, Pattom, for working in the spirit of the government decision.
