NEW DELHI: The Chinese woman arrested for staying in the country without documents is said to have engaged in espionage. Delhi Police informed that she is not cooperating with the interrogation. Cai Ruo, a native of China's Hainan province, was arrested. She was taken into custody the other day.
A fake passport claiming to be from Nepal was found from her. Reports said she reached India in 2019. The police said she ensnared officials of the union minister and did spy work.
She was living under the disguise of a Buddhist monk. She was wearing a traditional deep red monk robe and had a short haircut.
‘Information was obtained that a young woman living in India as a Nepalese citizen was involved in anti-national activities. An investigation was conducted on this basis. The woman was taken into custody from Majnu Ka Tilla, a Tibetan refugee colony that is also popular with tourists near Delhi University's north campus,’ the police said.
