THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: In a complaint lodged against Swami Sandeepananda Giri at the district consumer commission by a resident of the capital city, the verdict is in favour of the complainant. B Mohana Kumaran Nair of Kudappanakunnu lodged a complaint against Swamy for not receiving the promised services during the Kailash Manasarovar trip. He was part of the pilgrimage trip organized in 2011 and 2016.

Swami promised a three-day Kailash journey during the pilgrimage. However, both times there was only one-day journey. This is the reason for the complaint. Mohana Kumaran Nair set out for the trip a second time as he could not do three rotations on the first time. Rs 2,45,000 was spent for the second trip alone. Swami Sandeepananda Giri should also pay Rs 2500 as court expenses. The court imposed the fine of Rs one lakh considering the mental distress suffered by the complainant. The order is that of commission president P V Jayarajan, members Preetha G Nair and Viju V R.
