THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Opposition leader VD Satheesan said that Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan is neutralizing the Kerala Police. “It is the Chief Minister who should control the police, not the CPM district secretaries. The opposition had demanded several times that Pinarayi Vijayan should resign the charge of the Home department,” said Satheeshan.

“The Chief Minister has left the Home department to his own party members. SP is controlled by CPM district secretary and CPM area secretary controls the SHO. The police officers are merely watching the party members extending support even to the drug gangs. All goonda gangs are flourishing under CPM local leaders. The police are merely spectators here. Can complainants approach such police officers?”, asked the opposition leader.

“What to call the policeman who breaks the finger of a soldier who safeguards country? Sons beaten up while taking mother to the hospital, steals ten sovereign gold from a friend's house, dragged a woman in front of her son, helped the accused in a job fraud case, steals mangoes from closed shops, caught with MDMA, sexually assaulted a 17-year-old girl in a private bus, Kerala police is the accused in all these cases. The chief minister who is also in charge of the Home department is responsible for all this. It is the CM who should control the police, not the CPM district secretaries. The opposition has repeatedly demanded that Pinarayi Vijayan should resign the charge of the Home department. Police stations in Kerala should not be turned into concentration camps”, added VD Satheesan.
