NEW DELHI: The Supreme Court on Friday cancelled the bail granted to the accused in the Meenangadi POCSO case after expressing deep displeasure with certain remarks in the High Court order. The apex court removed the part containing the observation of the High Court from the order. A bench comprising Justice Suryakant and Justice JB Pardiwala also criticized the state government for not filing an appeal to cancel the anticipatory bail. It was the child's mother who approached the Supreme Court against the High Court verdict.

The accused is the brother of the child's mother. The child's mother complained that the child was molested and stripped by her uncle. She also alleged that the accused used obscene language against her kid. However, the High Court did not take the allegation made by the mother seriously and observed that it should be proved through the investigation whether the uncle hugged and kissed the child out of affection. The Supreme Court struck down this part of the High Court order stating that it was completely inappropriate.
