KOCHI: The High Court on Friday rejected the plea of the accused in the Elanthoor human sacrifice case to quash the order of the Judicial First Class Magistrate Court which sent them in police custody for 12 days. Justice Kausar Edapagam allowed the accused to meet the lawyer for 15 minutes each on two days in the presence of the investigating officer. Following this, the accused met the lawyer at 5 pm yesterday. The court will give permission again tomorrow.
During the interrogation, the accused are not allowed to see the lawyer. The custody period of the accused will end on October 24th. BA Aloor, the lawyer of the accused, argued that the police action based on speculations was illegal and the decision of the magistrate to send the accused to custody for 12 days was unusual. However, the High Court warned the lawyer who questioned the court proceedings.
