KOLLAM: The army has started an investigation into the incident in which Vishnu, an army signal wing jawan, and his brother were tortured by the Kilikollur police after framing them in a false case. Officials from the Madras Regiment of the Army visited Vishnu's house yesterday and recorded his statement.
Vishnu's family members will soon file a complaint with the Union Home Minister demanding strict action against the police. As per the rule, if Central Army personnel are involved in any case it should be immediately reported to the nearest Army office. However, there was a lapse on the part of the Kilikollur police in this regard. It is learned that the top army officials will demand an explanation from the DGP for brutally beating the soldier without reason and not informing the army.
