ELANTHOOR: The investigation team had four objectives in the evidence collection yesterday after bringing Bhagawal Singh and Muhammad Shafi, accused in the human sacrifice case. The first one was to make the accused say before the forensic experts and the doctors who conducted the post mortem, the manner on how the murder was committed as told to the police while collecting evidence the second time. Bhagawal Singh and Muhammad Shafi were brought together to the room where the murders took place. Dummy was also brought for this purpose. Some doubts in the earlier statements given by the accused had to be removed.

The accused had stated that before killing Rosli, they had burnt the rope with which her legs were tied. The second thing was to find its remains. The rope was burnt and covered with earth near the washing stone behind Bhagawal Singh's house. It was an achievement to have collected it yesterday. Forensic experts collected the samples.

Body parts were found from the area where Padma was killed and chopped into pieces and buried. However, parts of Padma's ribs had to be obtained. Though the forensic experts examined the pit nothing could be found.

There is a septic tank behind the well and the adjoining bathroom and toilet. The soil in this area was removed due to the suspicion that there might be remains of the corpses. The slab of the tank was opened and examined but nothing was found.

Collecting evidence and questioning lasted for four hours. The police came out with the accused after ending the interrogation at 4.30 pm. Returned to Kochi after collecting evidence from Elanthoor and Edapariyaram Service Cooperative Banks.
