KANNUR: The accused in the Panoor murder case, Shyamjith, reached the victim, Vishnupriya’s house with a hammer and knife. Before slitting her throat, Shyamjith hit her head with the hammer, says his confession statement.

The accused first went to the kitchen expecting to find her there. After that, he reached her room. He saw Vishupriya on a Whatsapp video call with a friend. Seeing Shyamjith unexpectedly, Vishupriya calls out his name in fear and suddenly gets up.

At this time, Shyamjith hit her head with the hammer and then took the knife, which he brought with him, and slit her throat, and cut her hands. 18 cuts were found on Vishnupriya’s body. The inquest report says that she sustained cuts to her hands, neck, and legs.

Shyamjith bought the hammer from a shop at Koothuparambu. For days, the accused was following Vishnupriya and monitoring her activities. During this time, the victim’s aunt died. Shyamjith was trying to find a spot where she would be alone.

When he saw her going alone to her house after the funeral of her aunt, he decided to attack her. He left the crime scene after making sure that she was dead.

The police say that Shyamjith and Vishnupriya were having an affair before. However, they parted ways recently and Vishnupriya made it clear that she did not want to continue the relationship. This made Shyamjith angry and he began to nurse intense hatred toward her, driving him to commit the heinous crime.

The dead body will be moved to Pariyaram Medical College for an autopsy.
