THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Congress has suspended Eldhose Kunnappillil MLA, who was named accused in a sexual assault case. The party leadership suspended the MLA from KPCC and DCC membership for six months.

The action is based on the assessment that the MLA's explanation is not completely satisfactory and that he did not exercise due diligence as a representative of the people.

The police had registered a case against Eldhose Kunnappillil MLA n the complaint of a school teacher from Aluva. In her complaint, she had alleged that Eldhose had sexually assaulted her several times on the promise of marriage. After getting an anticipatory bail, the MLA appeared before the police on Saturday morning. He appeared at the district crime branch office around 9 am.
