THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: As the police force continues its brutality by beating up people, including innocent ones, discontent is simmering in the Left Front and the CPM over the government's inability to control the police. Many leaders believe that the recent incidents, including the police violence against a soldier and his brother in Kilikollur, are damaging the image of the government. Some of the CPI leaders made their displeasure public. The question of whether the police is an instrument of torture during the term of the LDF government is being raised even in the left-wing profiles on social media.

Apart from police brutality, violence and murders are also on the rise in the state. It is also alleged that the police are not intervening in these matters at the right time.

The double human sacrifice in the name of sorcery brought great shame to the state. Youths, including a DYFI worker, were beaten up by the police in Kilikollur. Recently, an SFI worker who came to the station was beaten up by the police. Many, including CPM supporters, allege that such incidents are increasing due to the feeling that the police will be protected no matter what they do.

If a complaint is raised against a police officer, the matter will be settled for the time being by transferring or suspending the officer for a few days. The atrocities again repeat after that. Earlier, the CPI was angered when the Chief Ministers, who handles the home department, remained silent when a police officer behaved rudely to a member of the cabinet. However, the police are constantly creating controversies even after this.
