THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Minister MB Rajesh informed that a rule has come into force to give operational permission to the units producing mild alcohol from fruits and agricultural products other than grains to help the agriculture sector.

The Kerala Small Scale Winery Rules, 2022 were approved by including the amendments by Legislative Subject Committee. According to this, permission can be given for the production of mild alcohol from fruits such as jackfruit, mango, cashew, banana, and agricultural products other than grains. Earlier, permission was given to amend the Abkari Act for this purpose. Apart from higher income for the farmers, many people will get jobs through the production of alcohol from locally sourced agricultural products.
