KANNUR: Shyamjith, the accused in the murder of Vishnupriya in Panoor told police that he had planned to kill her using a cutting machine. He had a power bank also in his hand. While collecting evidence, the power bank was recovered from the bag which he dumped in the pond. The cutting machine was found from his house. However, he testified that he dropped the plan later.

The police identified the bike which he used to arrive her house on the day of the murder. The bike was found parked in front of his house. The accused was taken to his own house for collecting evidence. While collecting evidence, the weapons used for the murder were recovered from the pond near his house. He himself showed these to the police. Apart from the power bank, hammer, knife, screw driver, mask worn on the day of murder, shirt, jeans, gloves, water bottle, hammer, shoes, another lethal weapon for stabbing and chilli powder were recovered from his bag.

Shyamjith himself made the knife used to slit her throat. The police said that he started making of the knife three days ago. The knife was sharp on both sides of the edge. The iron and handle to make the knife were bought from Panoor. A knife sharpener was also recovered from his house.
