KANNUR: The plan of Shyamjith, the accused in the murder of Vishnupriya in Panoor, was a horrendous one. On interrogation, he told police that he had planned to kill her friend from Ponnani, after showing him her severed head. The accused had bought a small woodcutter with the intention of slitting her throat but its blade was not working. Then he bought a small iron chisel and used it to pierce her neck and then slit her throat with the knife. However, he was not able to detach her neck and following that he left from there.

As per the initial findings in the post-mortem report, her neck was about to detach. All the nerves in her neck were severed. The report also said there were deep wounds on her legs, arms and chest. After the murder, the accused went to Manantheri and kept the bag in a pit near his house and kept a stone on top of it. The police said that he washed the weapons to use it for the second murder. He then reached home, changed his clothes after a bath and went straight to his father’s hotel in Manantheri. He was taken into custody from the hotel where he was seen serving food for the customers. The accused behaved with no guilt. He told police that he is 25 now and after a jail term of 14 years, will be released when turned 39.

Meantime, the body of Vishnupriya was cremated in the premises of her house in Panoor. Hundreds of people paid homage to Vishnupriya.
