THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The government has rejected the Governor's ultimatum demanding resignation of nine Vice Chancellors of different universities in the state. The government will direct the VCs not to resign. The government is also planning to approach the court against the Governor's action. For this, the government will consult with constitutional experts.

At the same time, the government is monitoring the Governor's next step if VCs does not resign. It is also possible that the Governor might remove the VCs and give the authority to the senior professors of the universities. The governor had recently collected the list of senior professors in the universities.

Meanwhile, Kannur University Vice Chancellor Gopinath Ravindran has stated that he will not resign. He responded that he will not resign and if the Governor can fire him, let him do that. The government has handed over the charge of Technical University VC to Digital University VC.

The Governor has instructed the university VCs to resign before 11.30 am tomorrow. The Vice Chancellors of Kerala University, Kochi University, MG University, Fisheries University, Kannur University, Technical University, Sree Shankaracharya Sanskrit University, Calicut and Malayalam University are asked to resign. The Governor had demanded the resignation of all the nine VCs citing the Supreme Court order that dismissed the Technical University VC. It is reported that the appointment of five out of nine VCs had violated the UGC guidelines.
