KOTTAYAM: The locals caught a youth for sexually abusing a minor girl after taking her to the toilet of a worship centre. The Kaduthuruthy police arrested the youth identified as Ansil (18) of Puthenpura House in Velloor.

The youth got acquainted with the girl via social media. He had sexually abused her many times on the pretext of marriage. Police said the girl who came to the worship centre in Kaduthuruthy the other day was taken to the toilet and abused.

The youth was arrested after a POCSO case was registered following the girl’s statement to the police. The youth was arrested by a team led by sub inspector S K Sajimon, assistant sub inspector Reji and woman CPO Thulasi. The youth was produced in the court and remanded for 14 days.
