CHENNAI: Aneesha Amal of Trichi in Tamil Nadu lost Rs 9 lakh in a cyber-fraud. A stranger sent her a message promising her Rs 35 lakh and a BMW car. The message said that she has been selected for Kaun Banega Crorepati and that she has got a good amount and a car. When she called the number back she was asked to pay an amount of Rs 9,39,500 as tax.

Though she was hesitant to pay the money initially, later transferred the money to his bank account. When she did not get the promised money, she lodged a complaint with the police.

Despite many warnings on social media not to fall for cyber scams, people are still getting scammed out of ignorance.
