Minister AK Saseendran has said that the Forest Department will make more arrangements in Wayanad in the backdrop of wildlife attacks in the district. North Circle Conservator of Forest Mrs. Deepa has been appointed as the Nodal Officer to coordinate the activities against wildlife attacks in Wayanad district. An incident command structure will be established under her. This way, it will be possible to give timely instructions about who should act and how. CCF can assign one head to each team to lead the Rapid Response Team (RRT) of the Forest Department.
Timings will be arranged in such a way that RRTs are more active during the night. Inspections will be carried out inside the forest from the evening. Existing cages will be relocated if necessary. Forest authorities are making efforts to detect the tiger's presence by arranging modern systems, including Artificial Intelligence cameras. An order has been issued to the concerned authorities allowing the use of tranquilizer shots if the tiger needs to be caught using a tranquilizer.
