KOCHI: Love for the gym, which helped her reduce her weight from 115 kg to 49 kg gifted Lakshadweep Kavaratti native Halin Ahmad the role of a fitness trainer! It is her support in her life with three children. Today, this 40-year-old is the owner of Fit Caffeine Fitness, a company with three employees in Panampilly Nagar, Kochi. She also provides online classes to those in UK, UAE, Qatar and other states.
For Halin, life was a struggle. She got married at the age of 22 while studying BDS in Thiruvananthapuram. However, her married life was not a happy one as her husband used to treat her brutally. One day, he beat her so brutally that her bones were crushed by her husband's brutal beating, and her left side got paralyzed.
It took her six months to recover. Meanwhile, she got separated from her husband. She was unable to continue her studies. Although she started a live-in relationship with another person, that too turned out to be a failure. Due to mental stress and overeating, her body weight reached 115 kg.
Later, she went to Bengaluru with her children in search of livelihood. She somehow managed to survive on the income earned by cooking dinner and delivering it to homes. In 2014, she started going to the gym to lose excess weight. This happened to be a turning point for her. After losing weight, she began to fall in love with fitness. She then became a freelance coach in Bengaluru after getting certified as a coach.
