THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: 167 drug pills, 0.23 grams of MDMA and ganja were seized during flash raids conducted in the district under the leadership of Special Squad CI BL Shibu. Former POCSO case accused has also been arrested.

19-year-old Atul S Kumar alias Kannan, a native of Naduvathuvila, who sold drug pills near the Samadhi temple on the Melamkodu road and 25-year-old Anish from Chanakkara, Koliyur were arrested with 42 pills. They gang were the regular troublemakers and disturbed the residents of the area. Drug users and sellers had gathered at Athul’s house and created a terror atmosphere at night. Athul is also an accused in a vehicle theft case.

125 narcotic pills, 0.23 grams of MDMA and ganja were seized from the auto-rickshaw during night patrolling on Muttada Chathiyodu road. Autorickshaw driver Aravind (24), Jith GS (26) and Rafa (23) were arrested.

They are the main members of the gang that buys psychotropic drugs using the OP ticket taken from Peroorkada district hospital and by using doctor’s fake prescription. Fake seal and OP ticket of Peroorkada district hospital were seized from them. Rafa, the woman who has been arrested is the mastermind.

Aravind, the third accused in this case, had been in jail in a POCSO case. The Special Squad shadow members were monitoring them when they came to know that he had started selling drugs after he was released on bail. Preventive Officer Santosh Kumar M, Civil Excise Officers Vipin PS, Suresh Babu, Aromal Rajan, Ratheesh, Prabodh, Akshay Suresh and WCEO Manju were also part of the squad.
