CHENNAI: It has been found in the investigation that star couple Nayanthara and Vignesh Sivan have not violated the surrogacy norms. The probe team was convinced that their marriage certificate was not fake and the couple got married in 2016 itself. According to the report prepared by the Tamil Nadu Health Department, the waiting period for the surrogate pregnancy has passed. But the health department found that the private hospital where the duo underwent the artificial insemination procedure did not maintain medical records and violated ICMR norms. Then a notice was issued to the hospital seeking explanation to avoid shutting down.

Tamil Nadu Health Minister Ma. Subramanian had informed that the health department will investigate the surrogacy row as soon as the news came out. An investigation led by a team of two pediatricians found that Nayanthara and Vignesh got married on March 11, 2016. The wedding ceremony of the couple was held at Mahabalipuram on June 9 this year. They became parents of twin baby boys on October 9 through surrogacy. Nayanthara's family doctor was abroad and could not be questioned in the matter.
