THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: As the strike of fishermen against the Vizhinjam port entered the 100th day, protestors intensified their strike. The protesters broke the lock of the port gate and entered the project area. They also threw the police barricades into the sea. Protesters also arrived in boats and raised black smoke as a sign of protest. They also burned down a boat.

Protesters have arrived in the area where the breakwater is being constructed in hundreds of boats carrying flags. Hundreds of people are also protesting on land. The protesters say that even after several days of strike, the governments have done nothing except give promises. At the same time, the government says that it is taking a positive approach to all possible needs.

Believers and coastal residents from Kollangode to Varkala parishes of Thiruvananthapuram Latin Archdiocese have come for the protest. The strike which started at the Secretariat on July 20 was later shifted to the project area.
