KOTTAYAM: A youth stabbed a girl at Karukachal in Changanassery Thursday morning at 11.30 am. A native of Kuttikkal in Pambady sustained the injuries. The incident happened in front of Karukachal police station. The girl who was stabbed on her left hand ran and entered the station.

The police took into custody Akhil of Poothakuzhi in Pambady. He attacked the girl with a scissors. Her thumb finger of the left hand was injured. She was taken to a hospital nearby and treated. She sustained minor injuries.

Akhil was the girl’s former friend. Police said closing her relationship with him led to the attack. He was constantly after her. The girl along with her friend was coming to the police station to lodge a complaint against him. The youth knowing this came and attacked her.
