NEW DELHI: The Reserve Bank on Thursday directed banks to provide financial information about terrorists to the Centre. RBI has asked the banks and financial institutions to hand over the financial details of 10 persons declared terrorists by the Union Home Ministry. Those belonging to terrorist organizations such as Hizbul Mujahideen and Lashkar-e-Taiba are included in the list provided by the Reserve Bank. The Ministry of Home Affairs had declared these 10 persons as terrorists on October 4.
As per the RBI's master direction on know your customer: ''Details of accounts resembling any of the individuals/entities in the lists shall be reported to FIU-IND apart from advising Ministry of Home Affairs...''.
