THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The government has given instructions to speed up registration of employees in Contributory Pension Scheme in the state. The finance department said in the circular that strict action will be taken against the DDOs who do not implement this. Actions taken in this regard should be submitted before December 31.

The Finance Department's approval for registration has been waived till November 30. Contributory Pension Scheme was implemented in the state from April 1, 2013. According to this, the employees who have joined the government service have to complete the registration within 30 days. However, various service organizations are opposing the pension. The government's move is in view with this disagreement.

So far, 1.48 lakh government employees have registered for participation pension in the state and their pension age is 60. The government’s action has confirmed that they won’t withdraw Contributory Pension Scheme.
