THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Governor Arif Muhammad Khan remains firm on his demand seeking constitutional action against Finance Minister KN Balagopal as he has lost his pleasure on him. The governor cited this in the letter given to Chief Minister. It is reported that the Governor informed the Raj Bhavan officials that he was not satisfied with the Chief Minister's reply stating that he had full faith in Balagopal and therefore no further action is needed.

When the CM’s reply was forwarded to the Governor in Delhi by e-mail, his response was that he had expected it. The governor is not going to trivialize the matter and further action would be taken when he returns on November 4.

Raj Bhavan gave an explanation pointing out Article 163 of the Constitution which states that ministers can hold office during the pleasure of the Governor. Raj Bhavan clarified that this does not mean the pleasure of the CM.

The speeches and statements of all ministers are also monitored by the Governor and the withdrawal of pleasure would continue if remarks insulting the Governor are being made. If the feud between Governor and the government would continue, the administrative matters of the state would be affected.
