CHENNAI: A man who went to sacrifice a rooster to ward off the evil eye before the house warming of a newly built house, falls into a 20-foot deep pit and meets with a tragic end. The rooster survived. Police said 70-year-old labourer identified as Rajendran was hired by T Lokesh to perform the ritual at his new house in Pozhichalur near Pallavaram.
However, when he did not return from performing the ritual, Lokesh went for him and saw him lying in a pool of blood in the pit dug to install a lift for the building.
He fell into the pit when he went to the third floor to perform the blood sacrifice. The rooster was found unharmed. Rajendran was rushed to a hospital nearby, but was declared dead.
