It is unfortunate for Kerala that both the ruling party and the opposition are equally going behind political controversies amid many problems related to daily life. It must be specially mentioned that the Governor, who is also the head of the administration, is also involved in the current conflicts. The Governor has been at loggerheads with the government for more than a month. It is a rare sight that not only the ministers and the ruling front leaders but also those in the opposition are rallying together against the Governor. The general public, who are destined to be spectators to all this, appears to be fed up after watching and listening to this drama. When political parties are spending their energies and wealth on such things, there is no one to consider or find a solution to the real problems affecting people such as unprecedented inflation.

The market is seething with inflation. Not only the price of daily use items but also that of the general items are increasing day by day. The prices of all construction materials are increasing without any justification while everything is getting back to normal after the pandemic and the construction sector is becoming very active as before. The massive increase in construction costs has also adversely affected the construction of housing for the poor.

If we take the prices of daily-use items, the price difference is unprecedented. The price of rice has increased by Rs 20 per kg in two months. People of Kerala have never come across such an experience. The prices of vegetables, fish, meat and fruits are also increasing day by day. Customers may not even get a bill for the goods purchased. Workers and common people who have to depend on restaurants for food have to spend all their earnings on food. Ordinary people are struggling to live because of the soaring prices. However, the battles between politicians continue in the higher political and administrative spheres in such a way as if they are fooling the common man.

People are tormented by the fact that the government is not even able to prevent the frequent indiscretions on the part of the police, who are supposed to help the people. The experience of a youth who had gone to write the PSC exam in Feroke, Kozhikode was the latest example of police brutality. The government should immediately take necessary action to control the police force.
