THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Intelligence Bureau is collecting information on a complaint that a volunteer organization in the name of the wife of a leader protesting against the Vizhinjam port has received Rs 11 crore as foreign funds over a period of ten years. The IB is checking whether the funds were spent for the purpose of protest and anti-national activities.
The organization had received Rs 4 crore in FY 2018-19 and Rs 1.35 crore in FY 2019-20. It was found in the investigation that the organization has not submitted the details regarding the amount received in the last two years to the Ministry of Home Affairs. Some people from Thiruvananthapuram handed over the details of foreign funds to IB.
IB officials have also received complaints related to bank transactions of two other organizations. Kerala Kaumudi had reported that eleven organizations are under the surveillance of the intelligence team.
