THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Bismi Krishna, a native of Thirumala, accused the school authorities of delaying medical help to her daughter a plus two student while she became unwell during examination. The mother shared her daughter’s experience on social media and stated that the authorities refused medical help citing legal issues. The incident happened in Cotton Hill Girls School on Thursday during Plus one improvement exam. The mother also says that when the health condition of the student worsened, they didn’t take her to the hospital or allowed to call her parents.
17-year-old girl, who is also a national badminton player, has been suffering from serious allergy problems since last May after suffering from Covid. At 3.15 pm when the exam started, the girl told the invigilator that she wanted to call her mother and was not feeling well, but the reply was that she could not be allowed to go outside during the exam. After repeated requests, the invigilator summoned the school principal to the examination hall. The complaint is that the girl's problem was trivialized by asking if she had not studied, even though she told them to call her mother. After an hour at around 4.20 pm, the girl was allowed to call her mother and she arrived. The mother says that she reached the school within minutes and immediately took her to the hospital. No one from the school called to inquire about her condition even after a day. The state team selection is being held on November 3 at Pala. The mother told Kerala Kaumudi that she did not know if the girl would be able to participate.
But the school authorities denied the mother’s allegations. Minister V Sivankutty has directed Director of General Education to investigate the incident and submit a report within a week.
