THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Although Finance Minister KN Balagopal has ceased to enjoy the Governor’s pleasure, the finance department has relaxed the treasury control and sanctioned Rs 75 lakh for e-office system and other facilities at Raj Bhavan.
Due to the financial crisis, the treasury had restricted passing of bills above Rs 25 lakh. Due to this, e-office at Raj Bhavan was not given the full amount announced in the budget. The Governor's Principal Secretary wrote to the government in September asking for this amount, but the additional amount could not be sanctioned without special permission from the Finance Department.
The Governor sent a letter to the Chief Minister on October 25 expressing his displeasure with the finance minister over his speech at Karyavattom campus.
Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan and Governor Arif Mohammad Khan are in Delhi. It is reported that both of them were in adjacent rooms in Kerala House but did not meet. CPM and Left Front are intensifying their conflict against the Governor.
