THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: There are a lot of lapses from the side of the police in the Sharon murder case in Parassala. The first failure is that the Parassala police were not ready for an investigation though his relatives expressed suspicion on his death. They were not able to collect valuable information in the case. In the beginning, when his relatives voiced suspicion of Greeshma behind the death, the local police were not ready to take it at face value.

When his relatives brought to their notice the WhatsApp chats from his death bed many times, the police said the woman was questioned and there was nothing mysterious. They took the stand of investigation after the results of his internal organs are obtained. It has been criticized that the Parassala police could have investigated about the ayurvedic medicine and the pesticide mixed in it and the google search from the beginning. The principal sub inspector of Parassala station said that he could understand if one is guilty or not after speaking to him for half an hour. He also said that the girl will not do such a crime.

However, top officials of the police force said there is no lapse in the investigation. In a press meet convened by ADGP M R Ajith Kumar, there was an attempt to whitewash the police. The ADGP said clear evidence was obtained in the case initially, but due to other work schedules, no further action could be taken. The locals asked what is busier than arresting a suspect in a murder case for the police, who are supposed to protect the property and lives of the people.

In the meanwhile, a second lapse was seen on the part of the police in the case. The accused Greeshma trying to commit suicide in the police station. She drank the Lizol kept in the washroom of the police station.

The SP clarified that Greeshma did not use the washroom where security checking was done. Greeshma was brought to Nedumangad police station at around 1 am today. Four policemen, including a female sub inspector were assigned for her escort. The suspect was allowed to use the washroom where no security checking was done when there was one with strong security. When the incident became controversial, Rural SP D Shilpa said action will be taken against the policemen who failed to protect the accused. However, those concerned are not yet ready to take action against the Parassala police who could have investigated the case properly from the beginning. Meantime, some locals are raising doubts that the lapse from the side of the police was deliberate.

Allegations were made against the local police in the Elanthoor human sacrifice case. Clear evidence also emerged that the second murder was due to the negligence of the police. The general criticism is that they do nothing but troubles the people in the name of helmet checking and imposing fines. No one is doing anything to change this.
