THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Kerala Police will soon start collecting information regarding CCTV cameras in the entire state. The police will be conducting the audit of CCTV cameras as per the instructions of State Police Chief Anil Kant. The action will be taken with the cooperation of various departments to fully monitor the main centers and streets of all the districts. Severe criticism was raised against the police force as it kept groping in the dark due to the limitations of police cameras in the attack on a woman doctor in the museum premises in Thiruvananthapuram. The police chief's new order comes amid questions about the effectiveness of the surveillance cameras as the CCTV at the scene of crime was not up to the standard of identifying the number of the vehicle.

The District Crime Records Bureau, Control Room and respective Police Station Officers will collect detail such as the number of CCTV cameras under the control of the police, type, location, police station and the reason for the non-functioning of cameras if any.
