THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Digital resurvey will start today in 1550 out of 1666 villages in the state. The survey will be first conducted in 200 selected villages. Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan will inaugurate the survey at the state level today at 9.30 am at Tagore Theatre, Thiruvananthapuram. Revenue Minister K Rajan will preside over the function.
The survey has been completed in 116 villages using RTK technology in digital format. The survey will be completed in four years. For this, 1500 surveyors and 3200 helpers will be appointed on a contract basis.
The total expense for the digital re-survey is Rs 858.42 crores. Rs 438.46 crores have been allocated from the Rebuild Kerala Initiative in the first phase. The aim is to digitize all land records and prepare an authentic document regarding the land area.
The records of the village, registration and land survey departments will be integrated with the help of information technology after survey mapping gets completed using current technology and drones. The survey will be helpful for disaster management efforts as well. The Survey of India oversees the project.
