THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Northeast monsoon is likely to intensify in the state. As per central meteorological department, yellow alert has been sounded in Kollam, Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha, Kottayam, Idukki and Ernakulam. The Central Meteorological Department has also predicted heavy thundershowers at isolated places.
The Meteorological Department has informed that there is a possibility of widespread rains in Kerala till November 4 due to the strengthening of northeasterly winds over the Bay of Bengal and over South India, the cyclone located over the northern Sri Lankan coast in the southwest Bay of Bengal and the low pressure system extending from the cyclone over Kerala and Tamil Nadu to the southeast Arabian Sea.
