THOPPUMPADI: The court in Kochi has remanded EA Ajaz (36), a resident of Kakkanad's Thrikkakkara, for helping a bus driver escape following an accident resulting in the death of a person. Lawrence Varghese, a native of Edakochi, was killed after a speeding bus hit him in Thoppumpadi near Jio Hotel on October 8. The court granted conditional bail to Nawaz (24), a resident of Vazhakkala in Kakkanad, and NA Rafsal (30), a resident of Mundanpalam in Kakkanad.

Two more people have been taken into custody under the leadership of Police Inspector S Rajesh. The driver is still in hiding. An investigation is underway to find him. The police found two red boards with Kerala State 12 written on them and many cheques, passbooks and other documents related to bank transactions from the seized car. It is indicated that huge financial transactions have taken place in connection with the accused. The police have intensified the probe to crack down on the accused.
