As per the statement of the employees of the financial institution, Bhagaval Singh pawned Rosli's seven-gram ring for Rs.2,000. They didn't suspect Bhagaval Singh as he is a native of Elanthoor. The staff also said that the ring was bent. Rosli's other gold jewelery and mobile phone are yet to be found.
The two knives used to cut Rosli were kept in the kitchen of Bhagaval Singh's house. Bhagaval and Laila confessed that after cutting Rosli inside the house, they hacked her head again at the kitchen doorway. When the police asked whether the people in the neighboring house saw the act as the door was open, Bhagaval Singh replied that the houses visible from the kitchen door were uninhabited.
Murders were re-enacted with dummies. The forensic department collected soil from the pit where Rosli was buried. This was the first time that evidence was collected in connection with Rosli's murder. Earlier, the Kadavanthra police had brought the accused four times and collected evidence in connection with Padma's murder. Then the accused were produced in the court and were taken into custody by Kalady police.
Other accused linked to Shafi are being monitored
The police are also investigating whether co-accused in other criminal cases involving Shafi, the prime accused in the human sacrifice case, were involved in Rosli's murder. Shafi used to live in Kattappana, Rajakumari and Malayattoor. It has been mentioned in the police's custody application that evidence has to be collected from these places in Shafi's presence.
