BENGALRU: More information is out regarding the suicide of Basavalinga SwamI, the abbot of Kanchugal Bande Mutt Lingayat community in Ramanagar, Karnataka. He was found hanging in the monastery a few days ago. It was hinted from the suicide note found in the room that honeytrap by a girl was the reason for his death. The incident took place on October 24. During the investigation conducted by the police, a 21-year-old engineering student and a swami of another mutt were found to be involved in the incident.

The probe team has arrested both of them. After befriending Basavalinga Swami, the girl threatened him by showing these videos and it was found that this girl had Swami's nude videos. The girl captured these visuals through a video call. The girl was sent here by Mrityunjaya Swami, a leader of the Kannur mutt who Basavalinga swami’s rival. Both of them extorted a huge amount from Basavalinga swami by blackmailing him.

He is believed to have panicked when Murugha Mutt seer Shivamurthy Murugha was arrested for allegedly assaulting schoolgirls. Basavalinga swami was the abbot of Kanchugal Bande Mutt for 25 years.
