THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The human chain organized across the state as part of the government's 'No to Drugs' campaign against drug addiction had huge paticipation. Around one crore people from two thousand wards were part of this. It included school students. The human chain was focused on schools and other educational institutions.
The human chain started from Gandhi Park in East Fort, where the inauguration took place, to Asan Square in Vellayambalam. Chief Minister and ministers became part of the chain from Martyrs Column Palayam. Manu, an eighth grader from St Joseph school 8th class student administered the anti-drug pledge. It was recited by the Chief Minister and others. The function was then inaugurated by the Chief Minister.
The Chief Minister announced the second phase of the campaign and concluded the first phase activities. The second phase is from November 14 to January 26. Its outline will be released soon.
Minister V Sivankutty presided over the function. Minister MB Rajesh symbolically burnt intoxicants. Ministers K Rajan, R Bindu, Antony Raju, GR Anil, VK Prashanth MLA, Chief Secretary Dr VP Joy, DGP Anil Kant, Principal Secretary General Education APM Mohammad Haneesh and Director of General Education Jeevan Babu also attended the function. Ministers, elected representatives, officials and distinguished personalities from different parts of state became part of the human chain.
Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan said that the fight against drug addiction is entering the next phase. Minister MB Rajesh appreciated the activities being done by Kerala Kaumudi against drug addiction. The program was called as ‘Bodhapournami’. The Minister said that Kerala is presenting a new example to the world through this campaign.
