KOCHI: The vice chancellors have moved the Kerala High Court seeking cancellation of the show cause notice served by Governor Arif Mohammed Khan. Six vice chancellors along with Dr Mahadevan Pillai, who retired from Kerala University, approached the high court together.
The Governor had issued the show cause notice to six vice chancellors of the state and Mahadevan Pillai. The plea filed by the vice chancellors said the Governor, who is the chancellor, has no right to ask the reason for not expelling them.
The VCs demand is the judges of the high court or the Supreme Court should conduct a direct investigation into the allegations including misappropriation of funds. The plea also stated that the judges investigating should remove them from office only if they are convinced of them doing wrong.
The Governor had earlier sent a letter seeking the resignation of the VCs. The VCs then approached the high court. The court asked the appointing authority is the chancellor and why he could not take action. The Governor issued a show cause notice after this.
