RIYADH: Intelligence report said Iran will attack Saudi Arabia in the next 48 hours amidst the tension between Iran, Saudi Arabia and the United States escalates. Saudi informed the US about this. Reports said the planned attacks are targeted to divert the attention of anti-hijab protests in Iran. The expatriates are on alert due to the fear of war in the country.

A national security council official of the White House informed that they are concerned on the threats of attack against Saudi Arabia and is in constant touch with the authorities. However, the US embassy or the consulate in Saudi Arabia have not given any warning to the citizens about the attack. Iran had accused Saudi Arabia, the United States and Israel of instigating the protests in the country. Iran had also warned Saudi Arabia against interfering in the ongoing protests in the country.

America and Saudi Arabia alleged Iran is behind the major attack that happened in Saudi Arabia in 2019. However, Iran denied it. Meantime, Russian forces are using drones similar to those used in that attack against Ukraine. In recent years, Iran-backed Houthi rebels are also attacking Saudi Arabia.

The Biden administration has imposed sanctions on Iranian officials who have been cracking down on participants in the country's anti-hijab protests to protest the death of 22-year-old Mahsa Amini after she was arrested by Iran's moral police. The administration has also hit Iran with sanctions for supplying drones to Russia for use in its war in Ukraine. These things escalated the tensions between Iran and America.
