THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Thiruvananthapuram Sessions Court has granted bail to Eldhose Kunnappillil MLA in the case of physically assaulting a woman who had filed a sexual harassment complaint against him. The court however stipulated some conditions. The MLA should appear before the police for two days. The other conditions include depositing one lakh rupees before the court and not leaving Kerala.
In her statement to the police, the complainant had alleged that Eldhose and three lawyers threatened her at the lawyer's office in Vanchiyoor asking her to withdraw her complaint. They also allegedly offered her money. They locked the door of the office and assaulted her when she refused to sign a stamp paper that stated that she had leveled false charges against the MLA. Her dress and hair were pulled. The back side of her dress got torn in the attack.
When Eldhose Kunnappilly failed to make her sign the document even after using force, he began to suffocate her with the shawl and pushed her to the ground. Meanwhile, a person who introduced himself as an online journalist took her visuals. He said that if the victim did not obey Eldhose Kunnappilly, she will be framed in a honey-trap case.
Although she escaped from the office and got into an autorickshaw, the lawyers blocked the vehicle and took her to another car. They then took her to many places and pushed her out of the car upon reaching a private hospital, the complaint read.
