NEW DELHI: Kerala Governor Arif Muhammad Khan said in a press conference that he has not ordered to recover the salaries of Vice chancellors. “The time to give an explanation for the resignation notice has been extended till November 7. After getting the reply, the VCs have to appear directly. Need time to learn the explanation. How can I order to recover the salaries in between all this?’,” asked the Governor.
“The Vice chancellors have approached the High Court against the notice. If my action was illegal, the court would have stopped it. The government feared that the court verdict would be a threat to other VC appointments as well. I had expressed willingness to resign as Chancellor. The Chief minister accepted the instructions and asked to continue in office.
I have not expressed any displeasure. When I called the Chief minister to discuss important issues, he was not available. He didn't call back. He did not get angry when I did not reply to the letter,” said the Governor. He also harshly criticised the Pinarayi government in the conference.
