THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The India Meteorological Department has declared that a low-pressure area is likely to form over southwest Bay of Bengal off Sri Lanka coast around Wednesday, paving way for heavy rains in Kerala and Tamil Nadu. A cyclonic circulation lies over Kerala coast and neighbourhood. East-west trough runs from this system to south Andaman Sea in lower tropospheric levels. Another cyclonic circulation lies over south Andaman Sea and southeast Bay of Bengal in middle tropospheric levels.

As a result of this, widespread rain is likely in Kerala from today to November 6. Rain along with thunderstorm and lightning is likely to occur at isolated places. The IMD has informed that there is a possibility of heavy rainfall in isolated places in southern Kerala today.
