KANNUR: Mohammad Shihshad who was arrested for kicking a minor boy has been remanded for 14 days by Thalassery First Class Magistrate court. The remand report says that the accused committed culpable homicide. The accused first hit the boy on the head and kicked him when he did not move away from the car. The remand report also states that if the boy had not turned around, he could have died by that kick.

In the video that went viral, the boy can be seen leaning on a car parked in a no-parking area on a busy street in Thalassery, Then Shihshad, a native of Ponnyampalam, who was enraged, kicked the child.

There was a lot of criticism that the police did not arrest the accused even ten hours after the incident that took place on Thursday night. He was then taken into custody this morning and later arrested.

Meanwhile, the child's mother stated that she had complained to the police as soon as the incident took place at night. Some of the eyewitnesses of the incident rushed the child to the Thalassery Taluk Hospital. A lawyer also reported the incident to Thalassery police. Then the police took Shihshad's car into custody at night. He was summoned by the police at night but the arrest took place only after the issue turned controversial. Thalassery ASP P. Nithin Raj responded that there weren't any lapses on the part of the police. The state police chief Anil Kant said that an investigation has been started into the incident and that it will be checked whether the police have erred.
