KOCHI: Union Petroleum and Natural Gas minister Hardeep Singh Puri said that there is no possibility of a hike in the prices of petrol and diesel in the country. The minister was in Kochi to inaugurate the 15th Urban Mobility India conference organized here. The minister also said that steps should be taken to compensate for the losses of the oil companies.

Hardeep Singh Puri said that the Centre will work in such a way that the country's urban public transport will become number one in the world within 25 years. The minister said that the water metro project, which will soon be introduced in Kochi, is commendable. He also said that the central government is trying to make India the number one economic power in the world by 2047, the 100th anniversary of independence.

The three-day conference was inaugurated by Union Minister and Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan. The Chief Minister attended the function online.
