KOCHI: The High Court said that a victim is entitled to compensation even if the vehicle that caused the accident is not caught. Justice PV Kunhikrishnan suggested that this provision is already in the Motor Vehicle Act but most people do not know about it.
The plea also mentions that nothing is being done even after applying for compensation. The incident occurred on 2 November 2021 at the Kalamasseri overbridge. The police had given the report that the vehicle is not traced. When the families of the victim filed for compensation, nothing was done.
The court said that the Central Government has made sure that compensation is fixed for the victims. If death occurs then Rs.25,000 will be compensated and if injured the amount is Rs.12,500.
