GANDHINAGAR: The investigation report in the Gujarat bridge collapse that led to death 135 people, states that there has been serious lapse from the construction company. Oreva Group was the company which was given 15-year contract for the renovation and other repair works of the bridge. The police states that the company spent only Rs 12 lakh out of Rs 2 crore given by the government for the renovation of the bridge.

On October 24, Oreva Group Chairman Jaysukhbhai Patel announced that six months of renovation work had been completed and the bridge was completely safe for reopening. The bridge collapsed on October 30 causing a huge disaster. It was found that only six per cent of the contract amount was spent on renovation. The new police report is in line with the forensic lab observations. The security check was conducted only in the area where Patel and his family had travelled.

It was also found that Oreva group, a company that manufactures clocks and home appliances, lacks expertise in infrastructure construction The Oreva Group had sub-contracted the repair work to Dhrangadhra-based firm DevPrakash Solutions. The company, which is headquartered in Dhrangadhra, Gujarat, lacks technical knowledge related to bridge renovation. The police also revealed that the details of the amount spent on the construction work on the bridge are specified in the documents seized from Devprakash Solutions.

National media reports that instead of strengthening the bridge by replacing the rusted wires, they have done activities like painting and greasing.
